How Much Does It Cost to Study English in the Philippines for Two Months?

Eight weeks of General English on Boracay, with a shared room in our student dorm, the registration fee and the Special Study Permit, costs $2,567 in 2026. Two months is where studying abroad changes from a holiday into real progress. This guide covers the full budget, the visa extension you will need, and how to plan a longer stay on the island.

All prices in this article are our current rates in US dollars. They update automatically when our price list changes.

How the price works for longer stays

Our prices fall sharply up to 4 weeks. After that, every extra week costs a fixed weekly rate, which stays at the same low level as the 4-week package. For General English, each week after the fourth costs $205, and a shared dorm room $77 per extra week. So 8 weeks costs about twice as much as 4 weeks, and much less per week than a short stay. Compare our one-month budget.

1. Tuition for 8 weeks

With two months ahead of you, choose the course for your goal, not just your holiday. Intensive English is the fastest way to improve. IELTS, TOEIC & Business combines group classes with two one-to-one lessons a day on your exam or professional topics. If you are starting from almost zero, True Beginner English gives you three one-to-one lessons every day.

2. Accommodation for two months

  • Student dorm, shared standard room: $616. Air-conditioned, with a private toilet and hot/cold shower, a 3-minute walk to school.
  • Student dorm, single standard room: $952.
  • Student dorm, deluxe room (maximum 2 people, with its own fridge): $1,008.
  • Home stay: shared room $1,855, single room $2,150. Breakfast every day, lunch at school and dinner on weekdays are included.
  • Paradise English Annex Hotel (3-star standard, pool, 1-minute walk to school): from $2,030.
  • 4-star resort: from $4,290.

For a longer stay, think about space and routine. A shared room is the easiest way to make friends; a single room gives you more privacy. If you are unsure, ask us about your options when you book. The dorm has a shared kitchen and common room, which matters when you live somewhere for two months. Details on our accommodation page.

3. Fees

  • Registration fee: $130, paid once.
  • Special Study Permit (SSP): about $200, required for every student. Our office prepares the documents.
  • Textbooks: $16 per book.

4. Visa: plan one extension

Many nationalities get a free 29-day tourist visa on arrival. Eight weeks is 56 days, so you need to extend. The first extension adds another 29 days and costs about $85. If your stay, including travel days before or after the course, runs past 58 days in total, you will need a further extension. Further extensions are usually for 60 days.

There is an immigration office on Boracay, and our office organises visa help every week, so you don't need to leave the island. Rules depend on your passport and can change, so check before you book, and read our step-by-step SSP and visa guide.

5. Meals and other extras

  • Lunch at school: $185 for weekdays over a month, so $370 for two months. The cafeteria buys fresh food every day.
  • Caticlan airport pickup and drop-off: $48.
  • Extra classes: if you want more lessons in a particular skill, add group or one-to-one classes.

6. What is not included

  • Flights: your international flight to Manila or Cebu and the short domestic flight to Caticlan or Kalibo. Prices depend on the season and how early you book.
  • Meals outside school: Boracay has food for every budget, from street stalls to beach restaurants.
  • Weekend trips and activities: island hopping, diving or a day trip off the island.
  • Local transport, a local SIM card and personal shopping.
  • Travel insurance: strongly recommended for any stay abroad.

Over two months these personal costs add up, so set yourself a weekly budget for food and weekends. Cooking some meals in the dorm kitchen helps.

What can you achieve in two months?

Progress depends on your level, your course and how much English you use outside class. What we can say is that eight weeks gives you time for things a short stay can't:

  • Steady practice in every skill, with one-to-one lessons every day that follow your own needs.
  • Time to build habits: speaking without translating, reading every day, learning new vocabulary on purpose.
  • Exam preparation with enough time for practice tests. See how many weeks to prepare for IELTS.
  • A real life on the island, with friends from many countries, and English as your everyday language.
