Best Time to Study English in Boracay: Weather and Seasons

The short answer: November to March is the most comfortable time to study English on Boracay. The days are warm, the nights are cooler and the sea is calm and clear. But Boracay is warm all year and our courses run all year round, so the best time for you depends on your goals, your budget and the dates you can travel.

This guide explains Boracay's three seasons, the busy holiday periods to plan around, and which months suit different kinds of students.

Boracay's three seasons at a glance

Boracay has a tropical climate. Instead of summer and winter, it has a cooler dry season, a hot season and a rainy season.

MonthsSeasonTemperatureWhat it's like
November – MarchCool, dry season25–32 °C (77–90 °F)Warm days, cooler nights, moderate rain, calm and clean water
April – JuneHot season28–38 °C (82–100 °F)Hot and mostly dry, long sunny days
June – OctoberRainy season25–32 °C (77–90 °F)South-west winds, moderate to heavy rain

The seasons don't start on a fixed date. The change from hot to rainy usually happens somewhere in May or June, and the rain eases in October or November.

November to March: the most comfortable months

For many students this is the ideal time. You can sit through a morning of classes without feeling exhausted by the heat, and in the afternoon White Beach is at its best: calm water, soft sand and the famous sunsets.

The cooler evenings are also pleasant for walking around the island, meeting classmates for dinner or just relaxing at the dorm. A light sweatshirt is useful at night. That's about the only warm piece of clothing you'll need all year.

The one thing to plan around is the holidays. Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year all fall in this season, and they are among the busiest times on the island (see below).

April to June: hot, sunny and dry

These are the hottest months, with temperatures reaching up to 38 °C. If you love the sun and want as many beach afternoons as possible, this can be a great time. Late afternoons are perfect for swimming.

A few tips for the hot season:

  • Drink plenty of water. Tap water is not safe to drink, but the school has water dispensers on campus and at the dorm.
  • Use sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, especially between late morning and mid-afternoon.
  • Choose an air-conditioned room. Our dorm rooms are air-conditioned and only a 3-minute walk from school.

Holy Week (the week before Easter) usually falls in March or April and is another peak period, so book early if your dates overlap.

June to October: the rainy season

From around June, south-west winds bring moderate to heavy rain. It is still warm, 25–32 °C, and it rarely rains all day, every day. Many days have a mix of sunshine and showers.

For students, the rainy season has real advantages:

  • A quieter island. There are fewer tourists, so beaches, restaurants and cafés are calmer.
  • More focus on study. A rainy afternoon is a good excuse to review your notes or book extra one-to-one classes.
  • Water sports on the other side. When the wind blows from the south-west, the main beach and the back beach change character. Ask locals and water-sport centres which side is calmer on the day.

Storms and typhoons are possible in the Philippines, mainly during the rainy months. They can disrupt flights and boats, and occasionally the school may have to close for the weather. Our terms explain that closures beyond our control, such as weather, are non-refundable, so travel insurance is a sensible idea for any trip. Follow local weather updates and the advice of our office during your stay.

Peak seasons: when to book early

Boracay is one of the most popular destinations in the Philippines, and some dates are much busier than others. Additional rates may apply during these peak seasons:

  • Christmas
  • New Year
  • Chinese New Year
  • Holy Week

If your course overlaps with one of these, book your course, room and flights as early as you can. Flights and hotels fill up quickly, and prices on the island are higher. Our 2026 price list shows the standard rates, and our office will tell you about any peak-season extras when you ask for a quote.

The best time for different students

Beach lovers

Come between November and May. November to March gives you calm, clear water and pleasant temperatures. April and May are hotter but very sunny. If you're interested in water sports, ask about wind conditions for your dates. Different sports suit different winds.

Students on a budget

Avoid the peak holidays and consider the rainy season. The island is quieter and your money goes further. Our prices also fall the longer you stay. A 4-week General English course costs $801 instead of four times the 1-week price. For a full budget, read our guide to the cost of studying English in the Philippines for one month.

IELTS and exam students

For you, the weather matters less than your test date. Book your IELTS test first, then plan your course so it finishes shortly before the exam, so everything you practised is still fresh. Our article on how many weeks to prepare for IELTS in the Philippines helps you work out how long to stay.

Families and young learners

Our Junior English Camp runs in July–August and January–February, matching the summer and winter school holidays in many countries. Children aged 4–17 take five English classes every day plus indoor and outdoor activities, for 1 to 12 weeks.

Working professionals

If you can only travel during a short break, any month works, because our courses run all year round. Our Intensive English course is popular with people who want to improve quickly before going back to work.

Courses run all year

Whatever the season, the classes are the same: small groups, daily one-to-one lessons and experienced teachers. Not sure which course or level is right for you?
