Studying English at 50+, as a Couple or as a Family on Boracay
It is never too late to learn English, and you don't have to do it alone. At Paradise English you can study at your own pace with daily one-to-one lessons, come as a couple and share a room, or bring your children during the school holidays while you study too. Here is how studying on Boracay works when you are over 50, travelling as a couple or coming as a family.
Studying English at 50 and beyond
Many adults come back to English later in life: for travel, for grandchildren abroad, for work, or simply for the pleasure of learning something new. What makes it work is the right pace and the right support.
- One-to-one lessons every day. Every course includes time alone with a teacher, who works on your goals and your speed. Nobody rushes you.
- Experienced teachers. Our American, Canadian, British and Filipino teachers have an average of nine years at our school, and they have taught students from over 80 countries.
- Small group classes. You practise speaking with classmates from around the world, in groups small enough that everyone talks.
- A course for your energy. You choose how many classes you take each day.
Good choices for a relaxed pace:
- Budget English: 2 group classes and 1 one-to-one class a day, in the morning or the afternoon, so half of every day is yours. 4 weeks cost $591 in 2026.
- True Beginner English: 2 group classes and 3 one-to-one classes a day, if you are starting from the very beginning. 4 weeks cost $957.
- General English: 4 group classes and 1 one-to-one class a day, our most balanced course. 4 weeks cost $801.
Not sure of your level? Our free English level test takes about five minutes and suggests a course.

Studying as a couple
Learning together is motivating, and you have someone to practise with every evening. A few things to know:
- You don't have to be at the same level. Your timetable is based on your level and your course, so you may be in different group classes. Each of you has your own one-to-one lessons.
- You can choose different courses. One partner can take Intensive English while the other takes Budget English, for example.
- Try not to speak your own language all day. The more English you use together, the faster you both improve.
Rooms for two
- Student dorm, deluxe room: for a maximum of 2 people, with its own fridge, a 3-minute walk to school. From $504 per person for 4 weeks.
- Student dorm, shared standard room: our best value, $308 per person for 4 weeks. Air-conditioned, with a private toilet and hot/cold shower.
- Paradise English Annex Hotel: 3-star standard with a pool, a 1-minute walk to school. From $850 per person for 4 weeks.
- Home stay: live with an English-speaking host family, with breakfast every day and lunch and dinner on weekdays included. A shared room costs $895 per person for 4 weeks.
In the dorm, an additional person in a room pays 50% of the room rate (lunch not included, but it can be bought). See all rooms, photos and inclusions on our accommodation page, and ask us which option fits you best.

Coming as a family
Families can learn together during the school holidays with our Junior English Camp:
- For ages 4 to 17, in July–August and January–February, for 1 to 12 weeks.
- 5 group English classes every day, plus 2 hours of indoor and outdoor activities.
- School books and activity materials are included.
- Two weeks of camp cost $846 without accommodation (lunch included), or $1,045 with a shared dormitory room and weekday breakfast, lunch and dinner.
While your children are at camp, you can take your own adult course. Our camp rules for parents:
- Parents who also study and stay in the student residence with their child pay 30% of the published shared standard or deluxe room rate. The same applies to a second parent.
- Parents who don't study and stay in the student residence with their child pay the shared standard room rate. A second parent pays the deluxe room rate.
- Breakfast and lunch are available on request at a discounted rate for families staying in the student residence.
Additional fees may apply for children under 16 travelling without a guardian. For dates outside the camp season, or older teenagers, ask us what is possible.

Fees and paperwork
Every student pays a one-time registration fee of $130 and needs a Special Study Permit (about $200), whatever their age and course length. Our office prepares the SSP documents and organises visa help every week. Read our guide to the Special Study Permit and visa extension, and check the visa rules for every passport in your family before you book flights.
