3 Tips on How to Learn English (cont.)

This is the second part of 3 TIPS ON HOW TO LEARN ENGLISH by STEVE ALCORAN, who is an English teacher at Paradise English on the beautiful Island of Boracay in the Philippines.
We hope you enjoyed the first part  and are happy to see you back.

2. The second tip is from Confucius ( the Chinese philosopher)

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.
Learning is a journey and like every journey you have to make the first step. It is that first step that makes you move and every step after that will get you closer to your goal or the end point. Parts of the journey will seem more difficult than others, however those more difficult parts are the ones that provide you with more strength and more power once you have successfully mastered or achieved them. Never look at the mountain ahead, just master the little pathways and roads. In other words be present to what you are learning in the present soon you will look back and be surprised at how far you have traveled.

3. Learn a verb each day and in a year you will have learnt 365  new verbs.

When I say learn a verb, learn it in its entirety for example.
Take the verb ‘Talk’
What does it mean? How is it pronounced? Are there any other forms of the word? In what context can I use it?
So first of all it means to speak or verbally communicate

You can ask an English speaker how to say it. There are many on line pronunciation apps.
Other forms..? Talk, talking, talked
In their context.
I talk… (I speak) present simple
I am talking (I am speaking NOW) at the present moment. Present continuous
I talked… The past form of talk
How else can it be used?
1 I was talking (past continuous)
2 I will be talking (future continuous)
3 I have been talking.(Present perfect)

Just exploring the word talked will lead you into so many other words, sentences, phrases, grammar rules, idioms even and various sentence structures
So give it a try. If you really desire it to be.
